Job Location: Duha Color Services Winnipeg (750 Bradford St. Winnipeg, MB)   

Hours: Monday – Friday, Days  

Reporting To: Human Resources Director

General Job Description:

The Health and Safety Coordinator reports directly to the Human Resources Director, and will be required to promote safety attitudes, safe work practices and environments as well as manage, maintain, and administer the Health and Safety program with the objective of minimizing accidents, injuries, and environmental damage.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, organize, manage, maintain, and administer the Health and Safety Program in collaboration with Health and Safety Committee.
  • Identify safety training requirements, make recommendations to Safety Committee, and schedule the training as approved and required.
  • Responsible for identification, development and provision of appropriate health and safety related information, instruction, and training.
  • Complete internal audits and risk assessments as required.
  • Participate in investigations and accident analysis and recommend corrective measures.
  • Development and implementation of Safe Work Procedures and Job Hazard analysis for all job functions
  • Maintain and deliver WHMIS education and training program and Safety Data Sheet Management
  • Deliver Safety Orientations and Safety Training as required.
  • Coordinate and maintain emergency preparedness plans, fire drills and emergency evacuations
  • Ensure appropriate and sufficient safety equipment is available to all employees.
  • Work closely with the managers, supervisors and lead hands ensuring their workers comply with safety legislation while at work.
  • Monitor and advise on legislative and technical changes relating to health and safety.
  • Communicate various types of safety and health information to employees.
  • Develop, implement and review safety policies and procedures
  • Manage incident reporting trends and statistics and assist in ensuring a safety return to work for all ill or injured employees
  • Lead Return to Work Program
  • Act as liaison with WCB on RTW and Modified Work Programs
  • Maintain secure building access authorizations for staff
  • Facilitate COVID-19 protocols for the organization
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to occasionally work flexible schedule to deliver training and participate in investigations as required
  • Required to be an alternate point of contact for building emergencies and in the rare occasion respond as required

Job Qualification and Requirements:

  • A strong analytical mindset and demonstrated ability to analyze information, situations, problems, policies, and procedures to formulate logical and objective recommendations and decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivated individual with a strong team work ethic and ability to multi-task
  • Well organized with an attention to detail.
  • Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Working knowledge of safety management information system.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills.
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation.
  • Experience in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing principles an asset
  • Ability to occasionally work flexible schedule to deliver training and participate in investigations as required

  • Post-Secondary education in related field
  • Courses in Occupational Health and Safety, Accident Investigation, Labour laws, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Federal, Provincial and Municipal legislation
  • 2 years of experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role.
  • WHMIS Trainer Certificate preferred.
