General Job Description:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Pre-Press Lead. Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, this position involves working with a host of international customers and internal stakeholders on the creation, coordination, and preparation of art files for the manufacturing of Color Sampling tools, in addition to managing and maintaining Pre-Press equipment and procedures in a print manufacturing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

In this fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for a number of functions including:

  •  Work together with the Duha Sales & Project Coordinator teams during the planning stages of new orders to gather and prepare art files (either supplied by customers or created internally) for the manufacturing process.
  • Screen in-coming art files for their adherence to Duha print specifications and work with customers on any required updates to ensure a smooth production process.
  • Work with the Press Department to assist in some aspects of print production including color correction and adjustment of art files to meet the needs of customers and internal specifications.
  • Maintenance and care of pre-press-related equipment, in addition to assisting the press department with regular maintenance of relevant gear.
  • Ensure that all actions and issues are appropriately communicated and resolved in an effective and timely manner to meet the agreed deadlines and provide an exceptional customer experience.
  • Lead the development and implementation of best-in-class graphics and press business processes, operating practices, and tools.
  • Scan and prepare customer files including color correction, image retouching, special filtering, and textural effects
  • Support and initiate continuous improvement in 5S, Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, and visual management tools.

Education/Training/Experience:

A successful candidate for this role will demonstrate some or all of the following characteristics:

  • You are a self-starter with proven experience in Pre-Press in a print manufacturing environment.
  • Post-Secondary education in graphic arts-related fields is considered a strong asset.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communications skills and are driven to quickly respond to changing internal and external customer priorities and needs.
  • You are highly organized with an ability to independently adapt to a dynamic workload. You are experienced and flexible to work across regions, cultures, and time zones.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in the use of Adobe Creative Suite applications and font management software in a print manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Offset and Digital printing - specifically preparing art and images to be press-ready. Knowledgeable with Offset and Digital Color Calibration
  • Experience with Prinergy, Preps and Magnus CTP would be considered an asset.
  • You are technologically savvy and fluent with MacOS, Windows, and Microsoft Office.
