General Job Description:
The Chipper Operator position, is responsible for the continuous operation of the Chipper, by controlling the operation by foot pedal & continuously adding Blank Color Card Base Print into the machine, while simultaneously removing the chipped Printed Color Card print, from the machine. Follow all safety procedures, understand all safety equipment, and adhere to company policies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adheres to company safety policies, and maintains an awareness of all safety features on equipment.
- Identifies potential safety or maintenance issues and communicates them to management.
- Understands and implements LEAN manufacturing practices.
- Works as a Team with all production employees to meet established production goals.
- Maintains an organized, clean work environment.
- Has thorough knowledge of production flow for all assigned departments.
- Maintains a consistent application in troubleshooting on chipping machines.
- Understands procedures and information relating to all dockets.
- Completes a check for veining on plates and understands the reasoning for veining plates.
- Accurately and efficiently installs adaptor plates.
- Installs sucker and dauber plates and determines what size and type of suckers should be used. Files tabs when needed. Adds additional support tabs.
- Installs till box, adjusts till box to suckers, and aligns chips on the daubers.
- Understands types of glue, glue levels, roller speed, and finger bar adjustments.
- Able to level the head, get glue pattern, and tape daubers if needed.
- Understands what guides are to be used and card stamping issues.
- Checks finger bars and ensures they are correct for the machine and job specifications.
- Completes Daily Time Sheet and accurately indicates duties performed during the day.
- Completes required paperwork/checklists as required for each job.
- Maintains an organized, clean work environment.
- Any additional tasks as assigned.
Job Qualification and Requirements:
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in English and mathematics.
- Ability to discern color.
- Positive attitude and contribution towards continuous improvement in support of our corporate Lean vision.
- Willingness to work overtime and/or alternate shifts.
- Able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 25 lbs., use hands and fingers, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Conscientiousness.
- Positive attendance record.
Work Environment:
- Climate Controlled.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibrations.
- Moderate noise level.
Education/Training/Experience:
- High School Diploma or Level 12 G.E.D.
